Runner-Up: Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA

Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA

The king of immersion

The Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA takes ultrawide to the next level: super ultrawide!  This massive 49 inch FHD monitor is literally double the width of standard 1080p, ensuring your entire field of vision is lulled into a sense of driving a big rig or tractor from the moment you power-up until you somehow manage to pry yourself away from this glorious screen!

While this beast of a screen will set you back more than a few bucks, it’s widely considered to be the master of immersive sim monitors and is therefore absolutely worth your consideration!

Budget Pick: MSI Optix MAG301CR

MSI Optix MAG301CR

If you want to get lost in sims without losing too much of your hard-earned cash, look no further than the MSI Optix MAG301CR!  This 30” WFHD monitor comes with all of the features gamers have come to expect from their monitors such as a blistering 200Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and HDR support.

Luxury Pick: Alienware AW3420DW

Alienware AW3420DW

An artistic display

The Alienware AW3420DW does, of course, check all boxes and exceed all expectations in terms of providing an deeply engrossing sim experience.  It does, of course, wow all who gaze upon its breathtaking display.  These are foregone conclusions with Alienware.

What may not be expected is the elegant casing and stand.  The lighting and cable management systems are second to none and take your immersion to an entirely new level.

If you have a big budget and won’t settle for anything less than the best – you’ve found it!

Best for 4K: BenQ EW3270U

BenQ EW3270U

For those who insist on the highest level of detail

The BenQ EW3270U is ideal for those who like to dive headfirst into the open road (or field)!  Measuring in at 31.5”, this 4K monitor sports HDR support in addition to features specifically designed to alleviate the eyestrain associated with long-term sim gaming!

If you want a great UHD screen that you can stare at all day long, you’ve found it!  Do make sure to take regular breaks though!

Best for VR: Oculus Rift S

Oculus Rift S

For next-level immersion

Anyone who has experienced modern VR hardware will tell you that it sets a new standard for immersion, and Oculus Rift S is a perfect balance of power and value for truck simmers! (Unfortunately, few farming sim titles offer support for VR.)

While it isn’t the most powerful of the current crop of VR headsets, it does boast respectable specs that will keep it in the conversation for years to come.

Perhaps most importantly, it doesn’t come with all of the bells and whistles associated with the high-end headsets – which is good because truck sims don’t have any use for all of this additional hardware.

If you’re ready to jump all the way into your truck sim, this is the way to go!

What to Look for in a Monitor for Truck or Farming Sims

Sims have, and will always be all about immersion!  When shopping for a display upon which to live out your trucking or farming fantasies, keep the following in mind to ensure you get the best monitor for your unique needs!

The general consensus amongst truck and farming sim connoisseurs is that wider is better!  It’s recommended that you aim for an ultrawide monitor.  Super ultrawides are even more awesome for simulator, but they will really push your gaming space and hardware to their very limits – if your setup can support SU, it’s hard to recommend against it!

Many simmers are running on low-end or integrated GPUs and there’s nothing wrong with that!  Just ensure that you aren’t buying a high-end monitor that you can’t take full advantage of!  For most sims, 1080p/60Hz will be sufficient.  It doesn’t hurt to aim higher if your hardware will run it, though!

What else will you be using this monitor for?  If you also use it for work, you may want to splurge a bit and get something with extra amenities – especially if you do any sort of editing and content creation!  Alternatively, if your rig is a dedicated truck sim box, you may be best served to go for a VR headset!
